Here is a little fun fact about me, I am obsessed with lists & handwritten cards! I’m not kidding, I  make a list for everything in life. I don’t know what it is but for me, one of the most amazing feelings in the world is the feeling I get when I cross something off my list and of course, everything has to be color coordinated or my mind goes crazy!

This obsession, OCD definitely comes from my childhood and how I took on my education and the process of learning. As a young child, I was diagnosed  with an Auto Processing Disorder which  by definition is,“A condition found in 5 % of school-aged children that can’t process what they hear in the same way other kids do because their ears and brain don’t fully coordinate.”kidshealthy.com

Because of my APD, I was able to learn things easier and faster by writing them down whether the words were spoken to me or written down in front of me. I personally had to put the pen to paper. The process of seeing, processing the information and writing it truly benefited my ability to learn and even though I “grew out” of this disorder, I still write things down to this day.

Not necessarily because I fear I will forget what I was told or what I plan on doing but because to me there is something so fulfilling in writing something down and crossing them out whether it is my dreams, goals, my daily to-do list.

I have had this conversation with my boyfriend many times as well, when you put something down as a list, like dreams, goals, etc. Your brain sees it as a to-do list and your mind rewires itself to not stop until it is completely and I am not the only one who thinks so either, according to a study done by, Dr. Gail Matthews, she discovered

“that those who wrote down their goals and dreams on a regular basis  achieved those desires at a significantly higher level than those who did not.” ( Source)

I truly believe in the power of writing things down because taken your dreams from pen to paper is what makes them obtainable goals!

That’s why I am honored not only to have shared some of my story with you but to have partnered up with Babble Box on behalf of the Paper Packaging Board to help bring awareness to the power of bringing a pen to paper. If you know someone who is struggling in school or if you read this and it felt oddly familiar you are not alone. Call me old school if you want but I still believe in the power and the emotion a handwritten card brings! There is something so moving and of course more personal when you receive a handwritten card from someone who has taken the time out of their day to just stop and let you know they are thinking of you! I love to surprise my friends with handwritten cards. It fills my soul.

I thought this was a fun idea from Rework, not many other brands do this! They include a cardboard frame and one of their favorite quotes
