Quick Guide: 7 Ways  To Staying Motivated In The Gym

My relationship with the gym isn’t your typical love/hate scenario.  When I was in my teenage years, I loved going to the gym so much I practically lived in one. Not because I wanted to become a fitness buff, a trainer or anything else for that matter but because I had workout bulimia. I would literally burn off everything and more of what I ate that day. I’ve shared a little bit about this story in my previous post about Sweaty Betty, which you can read here and I plan on continuing to my future post of how I was able to manage and “defeat” my eating disorders.

As I got older, I’m finally finding common ground with my eating disorders, yes, I had more than just one. Recently I got back to working out, for right reasons this time. I want to feel and be strong.  It took me a couple tries to get back into the gym and actually want to be there. I would spend 3o minutes not really pushing myself and missing days of working out until something just clicked. The euphoria of working out finally caught up to me and I saw the slow yet actual changes in my body, I found a great appreciation for my body and all the incredible things it provides me.

I’m going, to be honest, there are days when it’s harder to get myself to the gym than the next but I continue to make it work somehow cause I know how I feel after I workout is worth it. Below I have shared with you 7 of my favorites ways to stay motivated at the gym.

7 Ways  To Staying Motivated In The Gym

1.Remember It’s A Lifestyle Change Not A Diet| A diet is something you change for the time being,  a lifestyle change is a process you implement every day and hopefully for the rest of your life.

2.Find Your Reason| Whatever your reason maybe,  you just had a baby, you don’t feel healthy, you want a revenge body, you just want to feel stronger, find your reason and tell yourself each day why you started!

3.Follow your favorite Instagram trainer/ fitness guru| This is a great way to get inspiration for your workouts, food prep, etc.

Some trainers I follow are|

Cristina Capron| @cristinacapron

Sierra Nielsen | @sierranielsen

Kayla | @kayla_itsines

4.Feel Confident| Finding the right workout clothes for your body type. Wearing what you feel comfortable into workout in is so important. It can change your workout completely.

Some of my favorite workout clothing brands are|

Sweaty Betty

Champion

J. Crew

5.Keep Your Self Motivated|  Surround yourself with positivity and little signs of motivation. They go a long way.

6. Challenge Yourself| Change up your workout, don’t keep to the same workout for weeks straight.

7. Write Down How You Feel Before & After Your Workout | It’s amazing how your mood changes after a workout, thanks to all the endorphins rushing through your body! See how you felt before and after by journaling!
