DIY: Coffe Mug
I just love this idea, as an avid coffee drinker, there is nothing like starting my day off with a wonderful cup of caffeine to get me going. Not too long ago, my family and I went to one of those places that you can go and paint ceramics, cups, plates, unicorns, you name it you could paint it. I noticed that we all picked something that we knew we would use and guess what that one thing was, a coffee cup! After spending an hour painting, trying to remember the color wheel and spending more than a weeks pay, I thought to myself there has to be an easy and more affordable way.
I did what we all do when we have a question and need an answer I Googled it! (what would we do with out Google?!) I saw all these cute ideas for DIY Sharpie Mugs and I thought what a great way to quickly and affordably create that same experience with less the clean up and half the price. However, with this craft you can’t blend colors, but you can create wonderful and expressive designs. They make wonderful gifts, you can fill them with hot cocoa and marshmallows during winter months or place a bag of your friends favorite coffee or tea.
Tools:
- Plain Mug
- Sharpie Paint oil-based markers or Décor Art Glass Paint Marker
- Stencil
- Tape
Instructions:
- Clean Mug
- Create design
3. Draw or stencil design on mug.
4. Let dry for 24hrs.
Please note: That plain Sharpies do not work, they will smudge . The paint needs to be oil based, during my research and trial and error I learned that if you use the sharpie based pen it will not run with normal hand and sponge wash. If you don’t have the time or find it easier to just through your cup in the dishwasher you should use Décor Art Glass Paint Markers.
