Your twenties— a brand new chapter of life. You may be starting a new job, making more money than what you’re used to, meeting new people, and honestly, you probably don’t have too much to worry about besides your own needs and wants. This is why individuals who have lived through their twenties say it’s one of the best decades of your life— and sadly it has the ability to go by in the blink of an eye. To ensure you are living these years to their full potential, it is important to write down your goals, learn something new everyday and live in the moment for yourself. If you haven’t created a bucket list for your twenties yet, here are a list of ideas to inspire you!
Starting a New Hobby
If you went to college, you may have been an athlete, a member of a club or the leader of an organization that you were passionate about. But after graduation, you’re suddenly done with what you’ve been a part of for so long. Even though this could be difficult to get used to, it is the perfect opportunity to begin a new hobby. Whether it’s volunteering at an animal shelter, helping children read at a public school or starting a new craft, it’s aside from your day-to-day job and it will force you to meet new people and gain new experiences.
Getting Out of Your Comfort Zone
Saying ‘yes’ to new opportunities and participating in adventures that may make you feel uncomfortable, but it is the perfect way to step outside your comfort zone. Being uncomfortable is the key to success; it increases your confidence, pushes your limits, helps you to become a happier version of yourself and prepares you to conquer the world going forward. Go bungee jumping, scuba dive with sharks, speak up about an idea for your workplace, get a drastic haircut. The opportunities are endless, and they will change you in the best way.
Figuring Out Your Finances
This isn’t the most fun tip to discuss, but definitely one of the most important! Now that you make a steady source of income, establishing a plan for your finances is essential. It can be done with some killer money management ambitions to limit your spending! Depending on your annual income, put some money into a savings account to save up for times later in life. After college, student loan payments begin, so it is important to look into a refinancing option as well. Having an established budget can aid in other potential priorities you want to accomplish, like moving out of your parents’ house, affording vacations or trips or making your life more organized— overall doing what you what to do.
Traveling to New Places
Traveling is a must when you’re in your twenties. Whether it’s with a significant other, group of friends or a colleague, discovering a new place while you’re eager, enthusiastic and free of other obligations, like marriage or children. While traveling as a young adult, you may discover new things about yourself you never knew you were capable of. You might learn that you have a knack for photography, planning skills or adapting to a new language fairly quick. Be spontaneous and soak in every single moment.
Appreciating ‘The Single Life’
Depending on the type of person you are, you may be single in your twenties, and it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Riding life solo is a fantastic way to learn how to be alone and a wonderful way to focus on your priorities— as Kylie Jenner would say, it’s a time for “realizing things”. Once you’ve spent time evaluating what you need to do be happy, successful and confident in your own skin, it is easier to share your life with someone else.
A Morning/Night Routine
Once you’ve hit your young adult years, it is vital to develop a consistent morning and night time routine. It will be the perfect start and end to your day! A healthy breakfast, exercise and skincare are all important steps to consider for feeling and looking your absolute best. The more consistent you are, the better you’ll be able to adapt to completing it. Reading a book, listening to a podcast, taking a stroll outside for some fresh air or meditation are other fantastic ways to begin the day on a good note.
