“Facing my first miscarriage, I never expected more would follow. I never had any reason to believe this would happen to me, let alone a few more times–but turns out I am 1 in 4, 1 in 8, 1 in 100. And even though those numbers may seem vast, it is more common than you’d think.
My life changed in 2021 when I experienced her first pregnancy loss. Feeling defeated yet inspired to learn more about fertility as a whole I faced more losses but while learning to harness my voice.
As I was still processing our first loss, I found myself wanting something tangible to hold on to. I had the memories of the joy, but I found the painful moments of the present were soon clouding over them. And even though I was face to face with one of the hardest moments of my life, I was honored to be chosen to be my babies’ mom. This led me to wanting to create something I could physically hold, as I would never hold our babies in my arms, but hold them forever in our hearts. I wanted to create a piece that honored not only their short earthly existence, but the hardest, darkest, stormiest moments, to serve as remind to myself that I was stronger than I ever was possible, while also providing hope for the future.
