If you can’t seem to shake thoughts of the cute guy or girl that you just friended on Instagram, don’t worry you’re not alone! I want to share some of my simple yet useful tips on how to get your crush to notice you so you can take your flirting from behind the screen to real life.
Below, I share some of my go-to moves that have helped me take my online flirting offline.
1.Slide into their DM
“Slide into those DMs,” as they say. Using your direct messaging on social media is a great way to send your crush a private and deliberate message. If you and your crush follow each other on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, but haven’t “talked” yet, send them a funny meme, a trending video, or ask them about something in one of their profile pictures. For example, “I see you like to travel, which destination have you liked the most?” Remember, pictures speak a thousand words, so you just need to see one to help you spark up a conversation.
2.Actually LIKE Them
Besides secretly liking your crush in real life, you can actually “like” them over the Internet by liking their photos. Don’t get too intense and like a photo from 113 weeks ago, but like a few and see if he likes yours back. Want to make your interest a little clearer? Leave a cute, flirty comment on one picture and tag them. See what they write back either on their photo or on one of yours.
3.Be FUNNY!
It’s inevitable that when you scroll through your Instagram feed that you will find a funny meme by one of the top Instagrammers, like @daddyissues, @thefatjewish, or @girlwithnojob. Your crush would probably find these jokes funny too, so tag them with a smiley face.
When it Switches from URL to IRL
1.Don’t Be Afraid to Text First
Seriously, don’t be afraid to make the first step. Messaging someone online or texting someone first doesn’t automatically make you look desperate. Instead, making the first move makes you look like you know what you want. Don’t be forceful in your approach, but be confident.
2.Pay Attention To Their Responses
If they keep it short and sweet most likely they aren’t interested. If they write you back with detailed answers, or they write you back and follow it up with a question, this likely means they want to conversation to keep going. This one can be tricky, but let it play out. If he is being short he could be busy, so give it a day. If in 24 hours you still hear crickets, let his silence fade into the darkness.
