Cut Calories During Your Thanksgiving Meal
I go all out during the holidays, especially at Thanksgiving! As the years passed, I realized the breadbasket isn’t the only place to find rolls. Holiday meals can be heavy and caloric. These days I try to make better choices when it comes to my Thanksgiving meals, so the rolls stay in the basket and not on my mid-section.
Truth be told, I encourage enjoying yourself during the holiday season, but I suggest food indulgence in moderation. If you are like me and don’t want to feel too guilty about going for that third cookie at the dessert table, try my go to Thanksgiving swap outs that help fill your plate and your belly with better choices!
Drink Water:
Often times we confuse thirst with hunger. Drink one large glass of water before your meal. This helps ward off hunger pains by making you feel fuller, faster and, not to mention, keeps you hydrated! Fill Your Plate With Greens:
I’m not talking about creamed spinach or your mom’s famous green bean casserole. Skip anything that is covered or cooked in heavy cream, or topped with delicious fried goodies. Instead, fill your plate with helpings of fresh, baked, or steamed vegetables and salads with light dressing. Try out Cristina Cooks Butter Lettuce Salad
Limit Your Alcohol:
If you are going to have a glass of something make it count. Try a festive drink like Alex T Cooks Pomegranate Rosemary cocktail.
Brine
My mother always brines our turkey, which keeps the bird juicy, moist, and delicious. No need for added butter or margarine!

What A Spud!
Instead of going for the creamy mashed potatoes, try making sweet potato mash. Not only will you save on a buttload of calories, but also you will be packing in anti-oxidants instead of packing on the extra butter.Recipe: Here
