Clean beauty with Spring + Vine

If you have been my friend on here for a while or you have just found me, one thing is for certain, I truly believe, change doesn’t have to be a big step all at once but change, whatever that means to you, can be little steps that lead to a bigger end goal or impact.

For me this past couple of years I have experienced a lot of change both personally and professionally. I noticed that I truly couldn’t have one without the other. It took baby steps but it leads to having a huge impact not only on my health, but the way Neil and I chose to live.

It all started with not feeling well, ending up in the hospital every other month, not being to get out of bed from the pain, being scared to eat because I couldn’t keep anything down. Nothing was helping me personally until I changed up my diet, I took a test to learn what I was allergic to and started doing research on products that I was using as well. I say this because through my journey I realized it is not only what you are putting in your body but, on your body as well.

I learned things about how my body digested the foods I was previously eating and how hard my body had to work that it was making me sick. One of the biggest problems I had was digesting meats, like beef, poultry, pork, and even dairy. It was like my stomach was choosing to be vegan without checking with the rest of my body first. As I shifted the way I ate, it shifted the way I saw products. Going back to that idea, it’s not only what you put in your body but, on your body as well.

I started going through my cabinets and checking the ingredients in products and getting rid of things that I either knew weren’t actually good for the skin to absorb or found out because I researched the ingredients. However, I will be the first to say that I am still a work in process, again small steps lead to big changes, it is also can be a bit of a challenge when you are looking for products for more than just yourself.

Neil has watched my journey and seen the change in me as well whether it is how I feel or look because let me tell you when I felt icky you could see it on my face, skin, nails, hair. Neil has always been into health and opens to trying new healthy products that I find, which has been so incredible. Having a partner who not only supports you in your healthy journey, but also joins in it, has been an amazing gift.

Which leads to me to why I am even sharing this post today, I wanted to give you a little background so you understood why I really wanted to share this incredible product I found called Spring and Vine. Which are Spring and Vine Shampoo bars that are free of unnecessary chemicals. They are PETA-certified cruelty-free and vegan. The bars are made with up to 95% less plastic and 90% less water vs your traditional shampoo. There are no synthetic fragrances- only essential oils.

Neil and I have been wanting to try out shampoo bars because, during our relationship, together we also learned a lot about how we can lessen our impact on the environment. One of the biggest problems is packaging, i.e empty bottles that may not be recyclable.

Did you know that “More than 60 million plastic bottlesend up in landfillsand incinerators every day – a total of about 22 billion last year. … The bottlesthat are not contained by fallen trees and other debris along our inland waterways are floating out into the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans”www.container-recycling.org.

That fact that Spring and Vine is not only a clean beauty shampoo bar but the fact that the packaging can breakdown in a landfill is an added plus for me, not to mention it is available in Target, making clean beauty accessible to everyone.

Would you try a clean beauty Shampoo Bar?

I do have to say when I first tried it, I had that moment where I was like, ” Did I just pick up my soap bar?” looked at my hands as I was like phew! It does take some getting used to only in the sense that you are washing your hair with a bar, not a “liquid.” After that, I was amazed. I loved the way it smelled, they have scents that range from Grapefruit & Rosemary to Tea Tree and Mint, to Lavender & Orange Blossom and an Oatmeal bar that is actually a moisturizing 2in1 Bar that cleans and conditions with gentle oatmeal to leave hair moisturized and feeling soft.
