10 Tips For Self-Care You Can Start Right Now

There are many Self-Care lists out there that will say, drink water, breathe, take a bath, etc. Which are kind of things that we should already be doing, right? Breathing, is a given, staying hydrated helps and I mean being clean is a plus if you ask me that’s why my top 10 tips for self-care are a little out of the norm.

10 Self-Care Tips

1.Start The Day With Gratitude.

Starting each day with gratitude is such a wonderful way to get the day going and there maybe some days you just don’t feel in the mood but push through and find one thing.  Something as simple as waking up, being able to smell the fresh air, see the sky, hear the birds, or  wiggle your big toe.  Find one thing or many and sit in gratitude for a minute. Starting your day with gratitude is a beneficial way to show love to yourself!

2.Learn How To Say No.

This one is huge! You have to learn to say no, I know it maybe hard, I know for me it is. You might be a people pleaser like myself, or you have fomo but I am not talking about just saying NO when it comes to seeing people or doing things for others, I am talking about in work as well. Sometimes the biggest gifts in life, start with a no!

3.Carve Out Time For Yourself.

Whether that’s reading a book, taking a bath, or talking to yourself, whatever it is, just carve out sometime in a day and do something for you, see tip 5.

4.Say One Nice Thing About Yourself Daily.

I know this might seem silly but this might be one of the biggest tools for self-care, is self love, self acceptance and self appreciation. If we don’t do those things for ourselves how can we expect someone else to do them for us?

5.Find An Activivety That Brings You Joy:

It can be reading a book, going for a walk, baking a cake, yoga, watching a new show but find something that brings you joy and do it!

6.Dance It Out:

Blast some tunes and just dance it out, trust me it is such an incredible feeling!

7. Ground Yourself! 

Yes, I said ground yourself, go outside and let your barefeet touch the grass, if you can get to the beach dig them deep in the sand. Be still in the grounding for 15 minutes or so and just let the sun, the earth, the wind, fuel you. I do this once a week. It is so healing.

8. Brain dump

Just write, write, write, write, it doesn’t matter what about just write, your mind is constantly working so let it feel free, allow your mind to wander and write freely. It honestly feels like a weight is lifted after.

9. Nap it out! 

Sometimes we just need to reset and recharge! Simple as that!

10. Turn your phone off for at least 15 minutes and create something with your hands. 

Have that be a dish, a piece of jewelry, paint, etc. I know if you have kids, that is easier said than done but try it when they are taking a nap, etc.
